Version 4.4CR4 is a candidate release. DocBook is general purpose XML and SGML document type particularly well suited to books and papers about computer hardware and software (though it is by no means limited to these applications).
Version 4.4CR3 is available in XML and SGML. Unofficial RELAX NG and W3C XML Schema versions are also available.

DocBook NG is a RELAX NG reimplementation of DocBook. It is a significant redesign that attempts to remain true to the spirit of DocBook.
The “Gin” release adds a couple of attributes.
